He received a degree in Literature as well from Columbia University. He started his career in Radio in the month of March 1983.

In the year 1983, he was appointed by WETO in DeLand, Florida and WMBN and WJML in Petoskey, Michigan. Later Tom met with Bob Kevoian at the same place. Griswold started garnering the attention of the audience when he started participating in the famous radio show Bob and Tom Radio: The Comedy Tour shows.

In the year 2009, Tom met with a serious accident due to which he sustained a severe shoulder injury after falling from a motorcycle. He was on a break because the injury needs surgery and resumed entertaining the people from 30th July 2009.
